There is no one “perfect” way to do makeup – but following the right order makes all the difference. It helps your products blend seamlessly, stay longer, and look fresh throughout the day.
At noelle, we believe in doing more with less – the right steps, the right tools, and clean techniques that make beauty feel effortless.
Here’s your simple guide to the right makeup order – and which noelle brushes, sponges, and puffs to use at each step.
1. Prep and Prime
Always start with skincare and primer – clean, hydrated skin gives makeup its bets base. Use a sponge to gently press in moisturizer or primer for a smooth even surface.
2. Foundation
For even coverage, start from the center of your face and blend outward. Use Brush 24 for soft buildable coverage or the Puffmallow Blending Puff for a natural, skin-like finish.
Tip: For foundation you can also use a damp sponge – it will give you a dewy look, while a brush gives a bit more polish.
3. Concealer
Apply a concealer under the eyes, around the nose, or wherever you need extra coverage. Blend using Puffmallow Mini Blending Puffs or the Eye Brush from the Pocket Glam Brush Set for smaller areas.
4. Blush and Bronzer
Warm up your complexion with bronzer and bring life back with blush. Use Brush 04 – it diffuses color softly without streaks – for both blush and bronzer. For cream blush, you can go with the Sponge or Puffmallow Blending Puff to blend color seamlessly into the skin.
5. Powder
Set your base lightly where you need it – under the eyes, around the T-zone. Brush 01 gives an airbrushed, soft matte finish that keeps your skin looking fresh, not dry.
6. Eyes
Start with eyeshadow, then eyeliner, then mascara. Our eye brushes (10, 10.1, and 19.1) let you blend softly for a natural or smokey finish.
7. Brows
Use the Brush 18.1 for precise, soft strokes that mimic natural hair and brush them with the other tip of the brush.
8. Highlighter
Add glow to cheekbones, brow bones, and the tip of your nose. Use Brush 05 for a light sweep – or your fingertip for a soft, dewy sheen.
9. Lips (the finishing touch)
Apply lip liner, then lipstick or gloss.
Bonus: keep your tools fresh
Great makeup starts with clean tools. Use the Makeup Brush Cleanser Spray to refresh brushes and sponges – no rinsing needed – and use the Makeup Brush Cleaner for deeper cleaning.
